System Requirements

Frequently Asked Questions

The app asks for Screen Recording permission repeatedly

Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Screen Recording, find KnoxStudio in the list, and toggle it on. If it's not in the list, click the + button and add KnoxStudio manually. You may need to restart the app after granting permission.

Camera or microphone is not working

Open System Settings > Privacy & Security and check that KnoxStudio has access under both Camera and Microphone. In the app, open the recording setup panel (gear icon) and make sure the camera checkbox is enabled and the correct device is selected.

Export fails or produces a corrupted file

KnoxStudio uses FFmpeg for export. If an export fails, try closing other resource-intensive applications and exporting again. Make sure you have enough free disk space for the output file.

How do I record system audio?

KnoxStudio captures system audio using macOS native frameworks. Make sure system audio output is not muted. In the recording setup panel, verify that system audio recording is enabled.

Can I record a specific window or application?

Currently, KnoxStudio supports full-screen and area-selection recording. Select the area mode to frame a specific window or region of your screen.
